I'm a scientist with professional interests in cell and computational biology, as well as food systems. Originally from Latvia, I did my PhD on protein homeostasis and circadian rhythms at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology at Cambridge. I have then transitioned to bioinformatics, mostly focusing on computational proteomics, having worked in a small biotech company and now at University College London Cancer Institute. I'm also a co-director and programme manager for Cell Ag UK, a small non-profit supporting the growing cellular agriculture field (cellular biotechnologies to create alternatives to live animal products). My wider interests include a variety of science and non-science topics, from linguistics to refugee activism. I'm keen on science outreach in the broad sense, and have taught at and recently organised interdisciplinary science schools and camps.
