The attacking poles of my life-pendulum are mountains and science, physical and adventurous goals vs the intellectual pursuit to understand nature. My scientific approach consist in transforming questions about the natural world into abstract geometrical puzzles. My approach to mountains is to climb, hike, run, ski, and fly over them. My focus is ecological communities, their self-organisation and dynamical response to perturbations. My technical specialities are rock climbing and mathematics.
