2025 INTP Autumn School: Syntheses in Theoretical Community Ecology

6-11/10/2025

Overview

The 3rd INTP Autumn School “Syntheses in Theoretical Community Ecology” will take place from October 6 to 11, 2025 in Ariège, in the French Pyrenees. Its target is an interdisciplinary audience of researchers (including graduate, post-doctoral and early career) with strong prior experience in theoretical community ecology and modelling.

Every edition draws on the previous ones to progress toward a more unified perspective on theory in community ecology. The program is constructed jointly by the lecturers, revisiting a broad …

Co-research Retreat in Theoretical community ecology 2025

29/9 - 3/10/2025

A 3- to 5-day retreat where participants (researchers or doctoral students) make progress on their own research, while sharing daily scientific discussion times, both indoors and during mountain walks.

Discussions will especially aim to address challenges and roadblocks in one's current work, brainstorm ways to overcome them, drawing on insights from a group of colleagues with a common background.

We hope that the retreat may also foster new collaborations between researchers of different institutes, who might not otherwise have such …

Research & Mountaineering Retreat 2025

16-21/6/2025

Deadline extended to June 4

The residency consists of co-working sessions to progress on your research (writing, analysis, etc.) in the morning and physical activities (climbing, yoga, via ferrata, etc.) in the afternoon.

Co-working
We will suggest a group schedule, based on the Pomodoro technique, which has helped many participants progress and stay motivated in prior work retreats at INTP (e.g. for thesis writing). You are free to opt out if you prefer a different experience.

Physical activities

Organizer: Wylie Ahmed (CNRS, Université de Toulouse)

Invited Speakers:
Nicholas Brubaker (CSUF, USA)
Jay McMahon (CU Boulder, USA)

This workshop brings together researchers interested in applications of AI to understanding stochastic
dynamical systems. It is broadly defined to connect people across disciplines including physics, math, engineering, biology, and medicine. It will include tutorials, lectures, and discussions to stimulate cross-
disciplinary collaborations.

Some topics:
Classifying emergent behaviors with variational autoencoders
Geophysics, asteroids, and DL-based uncertainty propagation

2025 INTP Spring School - Mathematical Theory in Community Ecology

18-24/5/2025

This school is an overview of community ecology for interdisciplinary theoreticians, in particular physicists and applied mathematicians.

See here for more details on this upcoming event!

Microbial Community Ecology - 2025 Spring Workshop & School in the Pyrenees

27-30/4/2025

This 3-day workshop in Microbial Community Ecology aims to bring together scientists (researchers, engineers...) working on microbial communities in diverse contexts, help create a common language with an overview of key ideas and tools spanning community ecology, and foster new collaborations and ways of approaching data, experiments or teaching this topic at the interconnection of many expertises.

More information on the dedicated page.

Microbial Community Ecology - 2024 School

6-8/11/2024

This 3-day school in Microbial Community Ecology aimed to give an overview of the key concepts and tools from community ecology (from coexistence to complex networks), that can enrich the way we think about and study microbiomes, plan experiments and analyze data.
